Born in the oldest city in Europe and surrounded by tales of Spanish conquistadors, it was only natural that I would develop a passion for history and exploration, which is why I graduated from Western Connecticut State University with a Bachelor’s degree in history. I went on to earn my Master’s in Education before moving to Charleston, South Carolina to begin my career in education.
For seven years, I taught at Advanced Studies Magnet- West Ashley Middle School, both in history and helping to launch the Project Lead the Way program after receiving certification in Gateway to Technology from the University of South Carolina. Currently, I'm teaching at Early College High School located at Trident Technical College’s Palmer Campus. Whether we're discussing foreign cultures or recounting the effects of the Boston Tea Party, I hope to foster a genuine love for learning in my students. This website helps keep my course content accessible in and out of the classroom, and often provides additional resources for students who are interested in continuing to expand their knowledge beyond the core requirements.
Outside of the classroom, I have developed educational curriculum for the Department of the Interior as a Park Ranger at Fort Sumter, and I am currently working through my bucket list of travel destinations. Whenever possible, I make the trip back to my hometown in Cadiz, Spain, where I visit historical sites and feast on tapas. I currently live in Charleston, South Carolina.
